FAMILY
No, it's not about our church members or relatives...
"We are one big family" is our theological worldview that God is our Loving Parent, the Divine Being who loves all beings like mothers and fathers are supposed to love their children.

"We are one big family" is our social and ethical worldview. In the Bible, Jesus taught that the most important rules of life are to "love God, love the others as you love yourself." So, just who are the others we need to love?
We engage faith questions using these guides: scripture, church tradition, experience, and reasoning. We use our heads and our hearts to guide our faith in God and our actions in daily life. For example, both science and theology relate our interdependence and connection with the natural world. The Bible says God has given humanity the responsibility "to till and keep" the earth which God declares "good." (Genesis 1 & 2) Therefore, to "love God and love others and ourselves", is to care for the well-being of all things--whether humans, animals, plants, insects, soil, water or the air we breathe.

We don't do this alone! We get our earthly relationships right when we nurture our intimate connection with the creative, caring and justice-loving God who started it all with a Big Bang and who still holds this universe in Love. This is our ONE big family!

We are going to help a sister church that was vandalized!
Browning United Methodist Church was vandalized before Christmas, and needs some help with cleaning up, repainting and setting up a permanent office presence. Please email Pastor Sue if you want to join us. We can take new team members until 4/26/2024.
